Distribution of Wine – How the Canadian market works
Quebec, Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia are the four provinces with the largest wine markets in Canada. They are the largest provinces in terms of wine sales, accounting for about 93% of wine market sales in Canada according to the Canadian data.
Canada is actually a very large market especially known for imported wine. The importing system is very complex since the sales have to be operated under a government-regulated system in which alcoholic beverages can be sold through the provincial liquor boards only. They are the exclusive importers and distributors of alcohol. The main provincial body is the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) and it serves as the province’s record wholesaler, importer, and major retailer of wines.
Alcohol can be sold to final customers through many sales channels, including supermarkets, liquor shops, on-line channels. The distribution system can be different inorder to the region. For instance, British Columbia uses a hybrid system that includes government-run channels of distribution, retail outlets, along with a private retail network.
The value of packaged wine imported to Canada from all over the world in 2021 was around $2.47 billion.

VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO SUPERIORE RIPASSO DOC ACINATICO
Our Ripasso Acinatico is obtained from a Valpolicella Classico of the same vintage through a refermentation and a second maceration on the still slightly sweet skins of Amarone and Recioto. This operation, called “ripassaggio”, allows the wine to enrich itself with body, color, aroma and alcohol content.
The Acinatico brand represents our desire to maintain the origins of the wine in Valpolicella, anciently called in Roman times “Acinatico” translated into Latin as “the product born (natico) from the grapes (acin)”.
